Drone Strike Shakes Tel Aviv Amid Escalating Conflict
A drone strike in central Tel Aviv early Friday, attributed to Yemen's Houthi rebels, killed one person and injured ten. The attack, part of the broader Israel-Hamas conflict, marks the first to breach Tel Aviv's defenses. UK aid to Gaza resumes amid rising tensions and humanitarian crises.
A drone strike in central Tel Aviv early Friday morning, attributed to Yemen's Houthi rebels, caused significant damage and resulted in one fatality and at least ten injuries, according to authorities. The Houthis claimed the attack as part of their ongoing action in solidarity with Palestinians amid the Israel-Hamas war.
This marks the first time a Houthi drone has bypassed Israel's aerial defenses. Until now, interceptions by Israel or its Western allies had prevented such strikes. An Israeli military official attributed this lapse to 'human error'.
The incident coincided with renewed international scrutiny and aid efforts, as UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy announced the restoration of funding to the UN's Palestinian relief agency, UNRWA. Lammy emphasized the moral imperative of supporting Gaza's civilians, despite recent allegations against UNRWA staff related to the conflict.
