Exhorting anti-narcotics agencies to adopt a 'ruthless' approach to dismantle supply chains, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday declared that India will not tolerate 'even a gram' of drugs entering the country or its borders being used for drug trade.
Addressing the 7th Apex Level Narco-Coordination Centre (NCORD) Meeting at Vigyan Bhawan, Shah vowed to make India drug-free and urged states to aggressively tackle the drug supply chain. He highlighted the significant seizures and dismantling of drug syndicates from 2014 to 2024, three times higher than the previous decade.
Shah expressed gratitude to officials in the fight against narcotics from 2019-2024, stressing that while only a fraction of the target had been achieved, infrastructural and departmental seriousness had developed. He called for a shift from a 'Need to Know' to 'Duty to Share' ethos among agencies, and introduced initiatives such as affordable primary narcotics testing kits to streamline case filing.
