Union Home Minister Amit Shah has identified the illegal narcotics trade as not just a national, but a global challenge. Addressing a gathering in Nava Raipur, Chhattisgarh, Shah emphasized that India could only combat this menace with determination and a robust strategy.

Shah outlined the critical need for a four-pronged approach: drug detection, network destruction, culprit detention, and addict rehabilitation. He aligned this with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a drug-free India by 2047, marking the 100th year of the nation's independence. 'The pledge for a drug-free India is essential for achieving a prosperous, safe, and glorious country,' he reiterated.

The Minister expressed concern over the narcotics threat in Chhattisgarh, noting that the state has higher-than-average use of sedatives and ganja. These areas of concern underline the need for a zero-tolerance policy towards drugs. Shah also virtually inaugurated the zonal office of the Narcotics Control Bureau in Nava Raipur to strengthen efforts in the region.
