In a new turn of political events, Congress leader and former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has launched a searing critique against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), following a series of Enforcement Directorate (ED) raids at the residence of Congress leader Kawasi Lakhma. Baghel has accused the BJP of engaging in what he calls "political jealousy," suggesting the raids are an attempt to malign political adversaries.
Baghel highlighted that despite an FIR being filed in the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) two years ago, no chargesheet has surfaced, pointing to an alleged conspiracy by the BJP to defame politicians. The allegations come days after the ED accused Lakhma of receiving substantial cash payments from a liquor scam worth approximately Rs 2,161 crore.
The ED's investigation into the scandal indicates that during his tenure as Chhattisgarh's Excise Minister, Lakhma was the main beneficiary of illicit funds generated through various schemes, including unaccounted liquor sales. The investigation led to raids on multiple locations, including Lakhma's residence, further intensifying the political standoff. (ANI)
