U.S. Representative Adam Schiff, a California Democrat seeking a Senate seat, issued a stark warning to donors during a private meeting on Saturday, expressing concerns that the Democratic Party could suffer substantial losses if President Joe Biden leads the ticket. The New York Times reported on Tuesday, citing two unnamed sources.
Schiff reportedly stated during the New York fundraiser that Biden's nomination could result in a Democratic defeat. 'I think if he is our nominee, I think we lose,' the Times said, attributing the statement to a source with access to a transcript of the event.
He further emphasized that Biden's potential negative impact on other Democratic candidates might lead to losing control of the Senate and missing a critical chance to reclaim the House, according to the newspaper.
