Colombian Government Ends Ceasefire with EMC Rebels

Colombia's government has formally ended its ceasefire with EMC rebel factions under the leadership of Ivan Mordisco. The announcement was made by the defense ministry on Tuesday.

The Estado Mayor Central, a faction of dissident former FARC fighters, has refused to engage in peace talks and continues to oppose the 2016 peace agreement with the Colombian state.

The move signifies a setback in efforts to achieve lasting peace in the region, as both sides remain entrenched in their positions.
