President Joe Biden admitted on Monday that he made a mistake by telling supporters to put rival Donald Trump in a 'bullseye,' clarifying that he intended for them to focus on Trump's actions, including lying repeatedly during their last debate.

Having urged Americans to reduce political tensions after a recent assassination attempt on Trump, Biden criticized Trump's rhetoric, citing the attack on the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. In an interview with NBC's Lester Holt, Biden acknowledged the error in his choice of words but emphasized scrutiny on Trump's falsehoods and lies.

During the interview, Biden, 81, also deflected questions about his own political future following a lackluster debate performance, insisting he remains focused on defeating Trump. He continued to highlight Trump's refusal to accept the 2020 election results and his repeated inflammatory remarks, stressing his commitment to battling Trump in the upcoming election.
