Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri declared on Monday that the BJP's 'Operation Lotus' failed in Himachal Pradesh. Agnihotri articulated that the opposition should now assume a constructive role, given the recent political developments.

Agnihotri noted six Congress legislators lost their state assembly membership due to a BJP conspiracy. Furthermore, the Congress managed to hold onto its 40-seat victory from the 2022 assembly polls despite recent political intrigues and by-elections.

The political turmoil erupted when, during the Rajya Sabha polls on February 27, six Congress legislators and three Independent MLAs voted for the BJP nominee. Consequently, the six Congress defectors were disqualified, and the three Independents resigned, later joining the BJP. The subsequent by-elections resulted in the BJP failing to secure those seats.
