Donald Trump underwent a precautionary CT scan after being shot in the upper ear during a campaign event, according to a media report on Monday.

A 20-year-old gunman fired multiple shots at Trump, 78, at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday, injuring the former US president's right ear.

Moments after the incident, Trump's ear and cheek were seen covered in blood as he was rushed off the stage. He later confirmed being shot in the ear.

Trump's CT scan returned clear results, though it's uncertain if other tests were conducted, CNN reported.

The FBI identified the shooter as Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania. The Secret Service neutralized the suspected shooter who fired from a rooftop near the rally venue.

Despite the minor injuries, images showed a bullet streak close to Trump's head. Trump reached Milwaukee on Sunday ahead of the Republican National Convention starting Monday.
