Hours after the Centre declared June 25 as 'Samvidhaan Hatya Diwas' to remember the 1975 Emergency imposed by Indira Gandhi's government, opposition leaders from the INDIA bloc vehemently criticized the move. They accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of daily constitutional violations over the past decade.

Aam Aadmi Party leader Priyanka Kakkar alleged frequent constitutional breaches by the BJP, citing instances like interference in Chandigarh's mayoral elections and negation of Supreme Court orders regarding Delhi's service management. She also criticized the introduction of electoral bonds, labeling it unconstitutional.

Additional opposition voices echoed similar sentiments. Trinamool Congress leader Kunal Ghosh dismissed the BJP's focus on the Emergency as a diversion tactic, while JMM MP Mahua Maji questioned BJP's commitment to communal harmony. RJD leader Manoj Jha and Congress' Jairam Ramesh also criticized the BJP's narrative, suggesting it was a tactic to divert from current issues.
