Biden's Slip-Ups and Re-election Bid Stir Doubts Among Democrats
Joe Biden

President Joe Biden mixed up the names of Vice President Kamala Harris and his Republican rival Donald Trump during a Thursday news conference. Despite the slip-up, Biden reiterated his commitment to his re-election campaign, even as more Democrats urged him to step aside.

Biden, 81, presented his extensive experience as a unique qualification to defeat former President Trump and lead the U.S. for another term. 'The only thing age does is creates a little bit of wisdom if you pay attention,' Biden said. However, doubts about his capability to complete the job have grown following a poor debate performance against Trump.

Throughout the press conference, Biden occasionally coughed, mixed up names, and trailed off during responses. He also mistakenly referred to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy as 'President Putin' at the NATO summit, raising further concerns. Some Democratic representatives and donors are considering alternate candidates and strategies for the 2024 election.
