Vice President Kamala Harris is swiftly building a presidential campaign, following President Joe Biden's unexpected exit. Typically, such a campaign would take months to organize, but Harris only has about two months before early voting starts. Despite the challenges, she benefits from Biden's endorsement and crucial elements of his campaign infrastructure.
Harris is tasked with a rapid checklist: raising funds, strategizing, hiring staff, setting up a website, and planning campaign materials. Fortunately, she inherited Biden's campaign offices in Wilmington, Delaware, and substantial financial resources with nearly USD 96 million in cash-on-hand, allowing for an immediate launch without waiting for additional funds.
Endorsements play a critical role, as Harris has already secured backing from key Democratic figures and organizations. The AFL-CIO, representing 12.5 million workers, unanimously endorsed her. Prominent governors and lawmakers have also shown support, bolstering her position as she prepares for a vice presidential pick and aggressive campaigning against Republican opponent Donald Trump.
