A non-bailable arrest warrant has been issued against former Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa in a POCSO case, announced Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara on Friday. He urged Yediyurappa to return to Bengaluru swiftly and cooperate with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) probing the matter. Reports claim Yediyurappa is currently in New Delhi at an undisclosed location.

"Warrant has been issued; he will be brought in for questioning, and further action will be taken in accordance with the law," said Parameshwara. Asked about Yediyurappa's location, he added that the veteran BJP leader is expected back by June 17. The special investigation team sought the warrant after Yediyurappa failed to appear for questioning on Wednesday.

Yediyurappa, who denies the allegations, argues that he needs more time to join the probe. The BJP has accused the ruling Congress of vendetta politics. Meanwhile, the Karnataka BJP charged that the Congress is using the issue to divert attention from its internal scandals. Union Minister Pralhad Joshi said the case was a conspiracy by the Congress to mask its mismanagement. The CID has taken over the investigation, and Yediyurappa has filed petitions seeking anticipatory bail and quashing of the FIR.
