The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted searches on Wednesday at the Raipur and Bhilai residences of former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel. The raids are linked to the alleged Rs 6,000 crore Mahadev app scam, officials confirmed.
Besides Baghel, the CBI targeted homes of a senior police officer and a close associate. This follows the Economic Offences Wing of Chhattisgarh Police naming Congress leader Baghel and several promoters of the app, including Ravi Uppal, Saurabh Chandrakar, Shubham Soni, and Anil Kumar Agrawal, in connection with the scam.
Baghel dismissed the charges as politically driven. Meanwhile, the Enforcement Directorate's investigation unveiled connections among prominent politicians and bureaucrats in the state. The Mahadev app allegedly facilitated illegal online betting, while the projected crime proceeds reportedly amount to approximately Rs 6,000 crore.
