In a significant move, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai unveiled the 'Mukhyamantri Teerth Darshan Yojana' on Thursday, designed to offer free travel for state residents to key pilgrimage sites nationwide. The scheme aims to cater to the elderly, widows, and abandoned women, allowing them to embark on fulfilling spiritual journeys.
The initiative's inaugural trip was marked with the departure of a special train from Raipur, destined for devotional spots like Tirupati, Madurai, and Rameswaram. This initial journey accommodates 780 passengers from Raipur and Balodabazar-Bhatapara districts, officially flagging off a campaign funded with Rs 15 crore.
Under the energetic stewardship of Chief Minister Sai, the state government anticipates reaching even more citizens through ongoing efforts, as evidenced by a parallel scheme that has already drawn over 22,000 pilgrims to Ayodhya. This initiative aligns with ongoing contributions to religious events like the Kumbh Mela in Uttar Pradesh, reinforcing Chhattisgarh's commitment to spiritual accessibility.
