Ex-BJP Leader Arrested for Major Theft and Forgery

Mukhtar Ahmad Mir, a former district general secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Kulgam, Jammu and Kashmir, has been detained on charges of theft and forgery. According to officials, Mir allegedly stole laptops and desktop computers valued at approximately Rs 30 lakh from a local polytechnic college.
In addition to the theft allegations, Mir faces serious charges of forging stamps belonging to senior officials from the rural development department, revenue department, and a bank. Law enforcement has registered a case under the pertinent legal sections and has commenced a thorough investigation into the accusations.
A BJP spokesperson confirmed that Mir was expelled from the party in December 2024. "The BJP does not support any criminal or anti-social activity. We are for justice and against corruption," the spokesperson declared, emphasizing the party's zero-tolerance policy towards such misconduct.
