A man was apprehended for allegedly defrauding a chartered accountant of Rs 1.5 crore, as reported by the police on Monday. Authorities are actively pursuing the four additional suspects involved in the fraudulent scheme.

Superintendent of Police Abhimanyu Manglik identified the accused as Pankaj, Ashish, Manish, Sachin, and Manoj Dubey, the victim Anand Dubey's relative. These individuals persuaded Anand Dubey to invest in a crusher machine and toll booth business in Bhadohi, claiming the funds would be promptly returned.

The fraudulent transactions occurred from September 17, 2023, to November 25, 2023. Upon Anand Dubey's request for a refund, he was threatened, leading him to file a complaint at Gyanpur police station on July 9, 2024. Subsequently, Manish was captured at the Amwa flyover of Gopiganj police station and faces charges under various IPC sections. Efforts continue to locate the remaining accomplices.
