In a significant breakthrough, police have apprehended a central figure in a notorious bag-lifting gang from Madhya Pradesh. This arrest follows a high-profile theft of cash and valuables amounting to Rs 8 lakh during a wedding in Maharashtra's Palghar district.
The incident occurred last month in the Virar area, where a bag containing cash and gold ornaments meant for the bride's family was stolen. Deputy Commissioner of Police Jayant Bajbale stated that an extensive investigation, including analysis of CCTV footage, pointed to a gang known for employing children to execute the thefts.
Officers tracked the gang to the Rajgarh region, with a dedicated team spending 11 days on the ground. They successfully detained Vilaskumar Ramjilal Sisodia, alias Sati, and recovered Rs 7.9 lakh in cash from him. The investigation is ongoing as authorities pursue further leads.
