The court in Maharashtra's Beed district has turned down a plea by Walmik Karad, who is arrested in connection with a Rs 2 crore extortion case related to the murder of a sarpanch. Karad, who suffers from sleep apnea, had requested a trained operator for his auto-CPAP machine.

Karad was apprehended by the CID in Pune last week, following the alleged murder of Santosh Deshmukh, the sarpanch of Massajog village. He sought the court's permission to access his medical treatment during his CID custody.

Although the court rejected Karad's request for a trained CPAP operator, it directed local authorities to attend to his health needs in accordance with government protocols. Meanwhile, four individuals have been arrested in connection to Deshmukh's murder.
