NCP MP from Beed, Bajrang Sonawane, alleged Thursday that Walmik Karad's surrender vehicle, in an extortion case, had previously been part of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar's convoy.

Karad, a close associate of state minister and NCP leader Dhananjay Munde, turned himself in at the Crime Investigation Department office in Pune on December 31. This happened days after being implicated in the extortion case linked to the brutal murder of Massajog sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh. Sonawane claimed on a Marathi news channel that the same car appeared in Ajit Pawar's convoy during a visit to Massajog village.

Besides questioning the car's connection, Sonawane demanded police accountability, citing that Karad filmed a viral video before surrendering. He urged inquiries into the video's location and alleged helpers. Sonawane also pointed to Dhananjay Deshmukh's application to Beed's Superintendent of Police, emphasizing a suspicious meeting between Karad and a person named Tandale, observed by an officer who reportedly acted passively.
