The resignation of Walmik Karad, implicated in an extortion and murder case in Maharashtra, has been labeled by the Opposition NCP (SP) as a staged drama and a mockery of the state law enforcement system.
Addressing a press conference, NCP (SP) MLA Jitendra Awhad revived demands to oust ruling party NCP MLA Dhananjay Munde from the cabinet, citing Karad's close relationship with him. Awhad pressed for murder charges against Karad, expressing skepticism about the police's involvement.
The infamous surrender stirred further debate after Karad's viral video on social media, which suggested his implication in the murder was politically motivated. NCP (SP) leaders call for an all-party meeting to prevent such incidents, urging the government to respond sensitively to the victim's family.
