In a bold move against corruption, thirty-five officers from Pakistan's Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) have been dismissed due to their alleged involvement in human trafficking, according to an official statement released on Wednesday.
The crackdown, directed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, follows tragic incidents where boats carrying migrants capsized, resulting in the deaths of over 80 Pakistanis. Criminal charges have already been filed against 13 FIA officials, highlighting the administration's firm stance on accountability.
The dismissed officials include four inspectors, ten sub-inspectors, two assistant sub-inspectors, five head constables, and fourteen constables. While a nationwide operation to arrest human traffickers continues, the FIA underscores its commitment to eradicating negligent elements from the organization.
