Preparations for the renowned Makaravilakku festival at the Sabarimala Lord Ayyappa temple are in full swing, with the event date set for January 15. Authorities have prioritized the safety and experience of the devotees, who have been arriving in large numbers.

More than 90,000 devotees flock to the temple daily, as the Sabarimala Administrative District Magistrate, Arun S Nair, emphasized ensuring safe darshan for everyone. As part of the festivities, the 'thiruvabharanam' procession will kick off from Pandalam on January 12.

Government departments are working in tandem to ensure efficient conduct of the festival. All arrangements for the procession are scheduled for completion by January 10, with inspections by the Pathanamthitta District Collector and various departments. The temple reopened on December 30 following the 'mandala puja' closure on December 26.
