Parts of Kashmir were shrouded in thick fog on Saturday as the region anticipated significant snowfall, including heavy snow in the middle and higher reaches, according to officials.

The fog affected numerous areas, including Srinagar, and disrupted air traffic due to low visibility at the Srinagar airport. Despite several flight delays, operations resumed as visibility improved with the first flight landing at 11:13 am.

The Met Office reported that a moderate to strong western disturbance would likely impact Jammu and Kashmir, predicting light to moderate snow at most locations with peak activity from Saturday night through Monday morning. An 'orange' warning has been issued for anticipated widespread snowfall on Sunday, accompanied by heavy snow in select areas, potentially disrupting surface and air transport. Authorities have advised residents to avoid unnecessary travel and are ready to provide public assistance through district-level control rooms.
