CCTV Trail Leads to Arrest in Diamond Heist
A jewelry craftsman, Sachin J Makwana, has been arrested for allegedly stealing diamonds worth Rs 1.47 crore from a Mumbai company. Police tracked him using CCTV footage from over 120 locations. He confessed to the crime, and most of the stolen diamonds were recovered.

A jewelry craftsman, aged 40, has been detained in Rajasthan on charges of pilfering diamonds valued at Rs 1.47 crore from his workplace in Mumbai, according to police reports from Wednesday.
Sachin J Makwana was apprehended after authorities reviewed footage from more than 120 CCTV cameras, informed an official at Goregaon police station.
Following a complaint from diamond trader Kiran Ratilal Rokani, police linked Makwana to the theft of 491 carats from the Goregaon-based company on December 10. The suspect was tracked through a meticulous examination of CCTV recordings across multiple locations, leading to his confession. Police have retrieved 97 percent of the stolen valuables, which include 470 carats of diamonds and Rs 77,380 in cash. Investigations continue.
