Delhi Chief Minister Atishi leveled serious allegations against Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, accusing him of ordering the demolition of Hindu and Buddhist religious structures. The charges were promptly refuted by Saxena's office as mere 'cheap politics'.
The LG's secretariat responded firmly, stating that there are no ongoing plans to demolish any places of worship, and no files related to such actions had been considered. The statement emphasized that Atishi's accusations were a diversion from her and her predecessor Arvind Kejriwal's governance challenges.
Atishi's letter to Saxena mentioned that the Religious Committee, reportedly following Saxena's directions, had listed several religious sites for demolition. The alleged sites include locations across various parts of Delhi. Atishi urged the LG to prevent these actions, suggesting it could harm the communities' sentiments involved.
