As Bengaluru gears up to welcome the New Year, Karnataka's Home Minister G Parameshwara has announced significant security measures designed to ensure public safety during the celebrations. Over 7,500 CCTV cameras have been installed across the city, with special picket arrangements and boosted police deployment to prevent any untoward incidents.

The Home Minister emphasized the ongoing crackdown on drugs, particularly in the context of New Year's and Christmas festivities. Highlighting the city's plans, Parameshwara said, "We've implemented various precautionary measures to ensure a safe New Year. With around 8.5 lakh people expected to celebrate, critical areas like Brigade Road and Indira Nagar will have increased picketing." Senior police officers will maintain vigilance.

Bengaluru Police Commissioner B. Dayananda reported that the city police force, along with civil defense and other agencies totaling 11,830 personnel, are on high alert to monitor potential rave parties and related activities. Restrictions are in place, with celebrations allowed only until 1 a.m. The police urge the public to avoid noise-making devices and facemasks, ensuring a peaceful environment.
