A Shivling was unearthed from the ruins of a deserted roadside temple in Sarai Rehman's predominantly Muslim neighborhood in Bannadevi, sparking intervention by law enforcement on Wednesday.

The discovery galvanized right-wing factions like Bajrang Dal and Karni Sena, who demanded the temple's restoration. Bajrang Dal's Mayank Kumar stated the site had been neglected for nearly 50 years and recently exploited as a refuse area.

In response to the incident, authorities and organizations gathered at the site to safeguard public order. Karni Sena's Gyanendra Pratap Singh disclosed a delegation's intentions to seek an in-depth inquiry and accountability from the Additional District Magistrate (City) and Superintendent of Police (City).
