The ongoing turmoil in Manipur has taken a distressing turn, with BJP state president Sharda Devi demanding the immediate release of three women and three children allegedly abducted by militants in the Jiribam district.
Terming the incident as 'unfortunate,' Devi called for their safe return on humanitarian grounds, while strongly condemning the violence perpetrated by armed groups against civilians. She stated that the BJP personally appealed to the miscreants for their release.
In the midst of ethnic tensions between the Imphal Valley's Meiteis and the surrounding Kuki-Zo tribes, the abduction has further escalated unrest, leading to a shutdown of the Imphal Valley by 13 civil rights organizations. Police efforts continue as they investigate unverified social media images showing the captives in militant custody.
