The Calcutta High Court has paused its ruling on the bail application for Kuntal Ghosh, an alleged participant in a massive teacher recruitment scam. This follows the conclusion of legal arguments from both Ghosh's defense team and the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

Kuntal Ghosh, previously affiliated with the Trinamool Congress as a youth leader, was detained by the ED in January 2023. The arrest was part of investigations into financial irregularities linked to the 2014 Teacher Eligibility Test, marking a significant development in the controversial case.

In court, Ghosh's attorneys argued for his release, highlighting his prolonged custody of nearly two years and the absence of a trial start date. However, the ED's legal representative resisted the motion, branding Ghosh as a principal figure in the alleged scam, part of a broader crackdown that has also implicated former West Bengal Education Minister Partha Chatterjee.
