Agra Police are stepping up security at weddings across the district in a bid to reduce theft incidents, according to officials who unveiled the initiative on Wednesday.
With a special team in place, officers will attend wedding venues undercover, blending in with guests to keep an eye out for suspicious activity, especially involving children typically used by gangs for theft.
Deputy Police Commissioner Suraj Rai emphasized the importance of the measure, especially given past incidents where gangs targeted brides' and grooms' families to steal valuables. The initiative includes monitoring through CCTV and encourages residents to alert police if leaving Agra for weddings to ensure home safety in their absence.
