In a significant move ahead of the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections, police enforcement intensified their surveillance, resulting in the confiscation of Rs 8.16 lakh from two vehicles in Nagpur district's Savner constituency.
The action, undertaken by Static Surveillance Teams on Friday, aimed at curbing illicit financial activities in the electoral process. Reports state that separate operations conducted in the morning and evening led to the recovery of cash consignments amounting to Rs 3 lakh and Rs 5.16 lakh respectively.
Authorities are currently interrogating the drivers of the two vehicles to trace the origin of these funds. Election Commission officials have been duly notified as the investigations continue.
