In a significant security operation, police in Amravati city intercepted two vehicles carrying close to Rs 2.30 crore in cash, according to official reports. This incident unfolds as Maharashtra prepares for its assembly elections set for November 20.
The vehicles, halted near Malviya Chowk within the city limits, were reportedly moving the cash from one bank to another. Deputy Commissioner of Police Ganesh Shinde provided this detail, underscoring the operation executed by the crime branch.
While one vehicle held Rs 2.15 crore, another carried Rs 14 lakh, yet the legitimacy of this cash transfer is under scrutiny. Officers are in the process of validating if the funds were genuinely being moved between financial institutions, with plans to release the assets if no illicit activities are uncovered.
