An 11-year-old girl from Jharkhand has been reportedly abused by her employers in Delhi, prompting legal action. The couple allegedly involved had employed the girl as a domestic helper for a monthly salary of Rs 5,000.
The incident was uncovered when the girl appeared disoriented in the society, leading neighbors to notify the police. Sub-inspector Chanchal has since lodged a complaint against Shahjahan and his wife Rukhsana, affirming charges of abuse.
Police inquiries revealed the girl's impoverished background, with her parents admitting financial constraints as the reason for her employment. The girl is now under care, while the incident underscores the illegality of child labor under Indian law.
