A violent clash erupted in Sungarhi when a long-standing village election feud led to Jagan Lal allegedly opening fire on a rival faction, resulting in five injuries, including inhabitants of Prem Shankar's household, as reported by authorities.

Responding in kind, members of Shankar's faction captured and brutally beat Lal, leaving him hospitalized. Police deployed significant force in the area to prevent further incidents.

This altercation stems from a historical grudge linked to the death of Lal's son during the 2014 village head elections, a case in which Shankar and others were once convicted but later acquitted in 2022. Investigations into the motive behind the shooting continue.
