Beirut Under Siege: Intense Israeli Airstrikes Rock Southern Suburbs
Israeli airstrikes targeted Hezbollah-controlled southern suburbs of Beirut, as the conflict with Hezbollah escalates. Massive blasts prompted warnings and shelter advisories. Despite ceasefire talks, Israel remains firm on continuing its offensive until objectives are met, driving a significant humanitarian crisis in Lebanon with thousands displaced.
Intense Israeli airstrikes battered the Hezbollah-controlled southern suburbs of Beirut on Tuesday, marking one of the most severe daytime attacks in the area. Israeli defense officials reiterated there would be no ceasefire until Israel's strategic objectives are achieved.
Following a social media-issued warning identifying 12 target sites, dense smoke from at least 10 explosions filled Beirut's skyline. Meanwhile, northern Israel faced drone attacks from Lebanon, including an impact at a Haifa suburban kindergarten, fortunately unoccupied at the time.
The conflict, exacerbated by the ongoing Gaza war, has led to a humanitarian crisis, with over a million Lebanese displaced. Despite Israeli advancements, including significant Hezbollah losses, Hezbollah remains resolute in a prolonged confrontation. Calls for a ceasefire continue amidst persistent human suffering.
