Guilty Verdict in Long-standing Delphi Murder Case
An Indiana man, Richard Allen, has been convicted for the 2017 murders of teenagers Abigail Williams and Liberty German. The case took a significant turn with Allen's arrest in 2022, following evidence linking him to the crime. The prosecution used witness testimony and cell phone footage to secure the verdict.
Richard Allen, an Indiana pharmacist, has been found guilty of murdering two teenagers, Abigail Williams and Liberty German, in Delphi. The girls went missing in 2017 during a hike, and their bodies were discovered at a nearby stream, a grim end to what had become a haunting cold case.
Evidence presented during the trial linked Allen to the killings, including an unspent bullet at the crime scene traced to a gun he owned. Eyewitness accounts and a cell phone video further placed him at the scene on the day the girls vanished, securing his conviction.
While Allen confessed multiple times while jailed, defense attorneys argued these confessions were unreliable due to his mental state, exacerbated by long periods of solitary confinement. Despite the defense's claims, the jury convicted Allen, bringing closure to a case that had gripped the small town for years.
