The ongoing political stir in Karnataka has taken a new turn as Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao and Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda demanded an apology from Union Minister Pralhad Joshi for his alleged statement against Justice Michael D'Cunha. The ministers accuse Joshi of calling D'Cunha 'an agent' amid investigation proceedings against the previous BJP government.
This uproar occurs while the D'Cunha-led commission is investigating the alleged COVID-19 scam during the BJP's regime, recommending prosecutorial action against former CM B S Yediyurappa and former Health Minister B Sriramulu. Justice D'Cunha, lauded for his integrity, has come under what is being termed as pressure tactics from Joshi.
The Karnataka government is gearing up its response machinery by constituting a Special Investigation Team (SIT) and a cabinet sub-committee to take action following the recommendations of the D'Cunha commission report, which has scrutinized expenditures amounting to Rs 7,223.64 crore.
