On Monday, the Supreme Court dismissed the bail plea of former JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna, who is facing serious allegations of rape and sexual assault.
A bench comprising Justices Bela M Trivedi and Satish Chandra Sharma rejected the plea, noting Revanna's considerable influence.
Senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, representing Revanna, highlighted that a charge sheet had been filed without section 376 of the IPC in the initial complaint. However, the bench decided not to alter the Karnataka High Court's October 21 decision to deny bail.
Rohatgi sought permission to revisit the court in six months, but the bench provided no guarantees, dismissing the plea. The Karnataka SIT has previously submitted a 2,144-page charge sheet against the former MLA, accusing him of raping a domestic worker.
There are two rape cases and one sexual assault case against the JD(S) leader, who is the son of MLA H D Revanna and grandson of ex-Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda.
