A Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) from the Army's special forces sacrificed his life on Sunday amidst a fierce gunfight with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar district, authorities reported.
The conflict erupted around 11 AM in the Keshwan forest, as a joint unit of Army and police engaged terrorists. This move followed the murders of two Village Defence Guards, whose bodies were discovered nearby last week.
The ongoing operation, spurred by critical intelligence, seeks capture; however, the initial conflict resulted in four soldiers being injured. The Army has expressed grief and saluted JCO Rakesh Kumar's supreme sacrifice.
