Drone Warfare Escalates: Moscow Under Siege
Ukraine launched a massive drone attack on Moscow, the largest since the war began in 2022, affecting major airports and injuring one person. Russia intercepted additional drones over Western regions. This highlights the evolving drone warfare in the ongoing conflict between the two nations.
In a significant escalation of the ongoing conflict, Ukraine launched a major drone strike on Moscow on Sunday, marking the largest such attack on the Russian capital since the war began in 2022. The assault, involving at least 34 drones, forced flights to be diverted from three key airports and left one person injured, according to Russian sources.
The Russian defence ministry reported the destruction of an additional 36 drones across other parts of Western Russia. Moscow's airports, including Domodedovo, Sheremetyevo, and Zhukovsky, were temporarily affected but soon resumed operations. Meanwhile, Ukrainian forces claimed a strike on an arsenal in Russia's Bryansk region, indicating an intensification of drone warfare tactics.
The war, now in its third year, sees both sides utilizing drones in novel combat strategies, transforming commercial models into lethal weapons. As the conflict continues with a focus on technological innovation, high-profile leaders and stakeholders, including Donald Trump, have entered discussions around potential resolutions, underscoring the global implications and continuing volatility of the situation.
