Jharkhand's Chief Minister Hemant Soren has made an urgent appeal to the Election Commission of India, urging them to instruct district administrations not to deny leave requests from employees, including police officers, during the ongoing festive season.
Soren highlighted the cultural significance of this period, which includes multiple festivals such as Diwali, Chhath, and others celebrated by the people of Jharkhand. He raised concerns over leaves being refused due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's upcoming visits and related election duties.
Furthermore, Soren suggested that the Election Commission should facilitate smooth travel by releasing vehicles seized for election purposes between November 2 and 8, allowing people to return home for the Chhath festival. The state's assembly elections are set for November, with over 2.60 crore eligible voters expected to participate.
