Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan is set to visit Algeria on a five-day official trip starting Thursday. The visit aims to strengthen defence ties, highlighted by the signing of a key memorandum of understanding on military cooperation between India and Algeria, according to the defence ministry's statement on Wednesday.
General Chauhan's visit follows President Droupadi Murmu's recent diplomatic trip to Algeria, significantly underscoring the deepening bilateral relations. The focus will be on enhancing military collaboration, including discussions with Algeria's General Said Chanegriha and senior national defense officials.
Among the highlights of the visit are General Chauhan's participation in a military parade commemorating Algeria's 70th revolution anniversary and addressing senior officers at the Higher War School. This visit is pivotal for both nations, promoting initiatives like 'Make In India' and reinforcing mutual strategic interests.
