In a tragic turn of events, a violent attack by suspected cult members in Mizizi A, a hamlet in Uganda's Kagadi district, resulted in the death of eight people, police reported. The victims included a child as young as three as well as members of the attackers' own families.
Uganda People's Defence Forces revealed that preliminary investigations point to a new cult, still unnamed, being responsible for the brutal assault on Tuesday evening, which also left eight others injured. Security forces have been deployed in cooperation with the military and police to pursue the remaining assailants as investigations intensify.
Kagadi district, near the Kingfisher oilfield operated by China's CNOOC, is not believed to have any involvement or be a target in relation to the attack. The ongoing inquiry aims to uncover more about the motives and identity of the elusive cult.
