Senior Congress leader Ravinder Sharma expressed profound sorrow over the deadly encounter between security forces and terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar district, which claimed the life of an Army Junior Commissioned Officer. The incident occurred as Naib Subedar Rakesh Kumar was martyred, and three para commandos sustained injuries. Tragically, terrorists also kidnapped and killed two Village Defense Committee members, Nazeer Ahmed and Kuldeep Kumar, in the same region.
Sharma openly criticized the government's repeated assertions of stability in Jammu and Kashmir. He argued that since the region's transition to a Union Territory, terrorism had not only persisted but had escalated remarkably over the past year and a half, exceeding levels seen over the previous two decades. Sharma urged the government to provide answers regarding the deteriorating situation in the area.
Underlining the Home Ministry's responsibility for law and order, Sharma pressed for clarity on the worsening conditions. He called on the government to bolster security measures and fulfill its duty to protect civilians. Sharma emphasized that while unity in the fight against terrorism persists, it remains the government's obligation to develop strategies to counter it effectively. In a social media post, the Army's White Knight Corps honored the sacrifice of Sub Rakesh, affirming their solidarity with his bereaved family.
