Axel Rudakubana, 18, charged with murder of three girls in northern England, now faces additional terrorism charges related to ricin production and possession of an al Qaeda manual. The case, still not officially treated as a terrorist incident, sparked nationwide unrest after the shocking attack.
An 18-year-old, Axel Rudakubana, previously charged with the murder of three young girls during a knife attack in northern England, is now facing terrorism accusations. These charges include the production of ricin, a biological toxin, and possession of an al Qaeda training manual, as revealed by police and prosecutors on Tuesday.
The initial murders, which took place at a Taylor Swift dance event in Southport, sent shockwaves across the country and ignited several days of riots. Despite the gravity of the acts, the authorities have not officially classified the incident as terrorism.
Merseyside Chief Constable Serena Kennedy remarked that motive is not necessary for the terrorism charges under their current legal framework. However, to label the case as a terrorist incident, a motive would need to be determined.
