The Supreme Court of India has rejected a lawyer's review plea against its prior decision which upheld the restoration of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Mohammed Faizal's membership in the Lok Sabha.
The court, comprising Justices B R Gavai, Aravind Kumar, and P K Mishra, unanimously agreed that there was no valid reason to entertain this review petition. This decision came after thoroughly reviewing all submitted documents and arguments.
The plea, initially filed by advocate Ashok Pandey, challenged an October 20 decision that dismissed his objections and levied a cost of Rs 1 lakh against him for misusing the legal process. Pandey argued that disqualification should persist following Faizal's criminal conviction until any acquittal by a higher court.
