The Uttar Pradesh authorities have made significant progress in marking the floodplain zones of the River Yamuna in Ghaziabad, Greater Noida, and Gautam Buddha Nagar, with a small part still pending.

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) is closely monitoring unauthorized constructions in the Yamuna and Hindon floodplains across three districts in Uttar Pradesh.

A bench headed by NGT Chairperson Justice Prakash Shrivastava reviewed a compliance report from the state's irrigation department noting that an upstream stretch near Okhla Barrage remains. For the River Hindon, progress is stalled pending a critical map from the Survey of India, expected by February 2025.
