In a shocking incident that has shaken the community, a former religious leader was shot dead in Jharkhand’s Hazaribag district on Tuesday morning. According to police sources, the assailant has been identified as Vivek Soni and has been taken into custody.
The victim, Manjit Yadav, aged 50, was the ex-president of the ‘Hazaribagh Ramnavami Mahasamiti’. The shooting took place at around 8 am when Yadav was leaving his residence. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Yadav succumbed to his injuries.
The police, led by Superintendent Arvind Kumar Singh, suspect a land dispute as the motive behind the killing. Yadav was recently released on bail after serving time for criminal charges. Supporters expressed their outrage by blocking NH-33, causing a temporary disruption until the police restored order.
