At least four people, including two soldiers, lost their lives when militants ambushed an army vehicle in Kashmir Thursday night, marking the fourth such attack in the region this fortnight and the second in a week, officials revealed. This surge in attacks coincides with an opposition alliance forming a government in the territory, where separatists have long clashed with security forces, resulting in thousands of casualties over the years.

In a July attack, nine soldiers were killed in two separate militant offensives in the area. The latest assault took place in the Bota Pathri region near the border with Pakistan, according to officials, who also reported the deaths of two army porters and injuries to three soldiers during the incident.

A comprehensive search operation is ongoing to apprehend the militants involved in the attack, with additional forces deployed to the area as per army sources. Security personnel are utilizing drones and helicopters to scour the forested region where the attack occurred, a senior police officer stated.
